The JATAI range

JATAI International was established in California in 1950 as a Japan-US commerce liaison, later becoming the exclusive North American distributor for Feather. Its JATAI Scissors by BMAC line is handcrafted in Japan from VG-10 steel. Three models run US$370 to US$675 in 5.5 and 6.0 inch lengths.

JATAI has distributed Feather razors and beauty products in North America since the mid-twentieth century. The JATAI Scissors by BMAC line adds Japanese VG-10 shears to its offering. The Tokyo and Kyoto models cover cutting; the Tokyo Thinning adds texture work. VG-10 cobalt-vanadium steel is the same alloy used by several Japanese premium brands.

The Tokyo (US$370) is the entry cutting model and the Tokyo Thinning (US$370) its thinning pair — both in VG-10 at the same price. The Kyoto (US$675) steps up to the flagship at the top of the catalogued range. All three are available through JATAI’s official channels.
