Verification-pending is a work-in-progress signal on our end, not a judgment about a brand. Profiles in this status remain live so stylists searching for the name can find whatever we have confirmed so far — with the page marked noindex so search engines do not rank it before our research is complete.

Why we maintain this status

ScissorPedia aims to publish brand profiles that reflect verified, primary-source research rather than marketing text paraphrased from a brand's own website. When we have not yet completed that research, the verification-pending status keeps the profile honest: it tells readers what we have confirmed, notes what we are still working on, and avoids presenting unverified information as authoritative.

This approach also serves brand owners. An indexed profile that gets details wrong can be harder to correct than a clearly marked work-in-progress. Keeping the profile in verification-pending status while we finish research means that when the brand does appear fully in the index, the information will be accurate and well-sourced.

How we complete verification

Our verification workflow draws on primary-source research across six areas:

  1. Manufacturer contact. Direct communication with the factory or headquarters, or documented evidence through industry bodies (for example HSC certification tags for Japanese brands, Solingen origin marks for German brands).
  2. Manufacturing origin. Where the blade is forged, ground, and finished.
  3. Steel and materials. Steel grade and specifications with cross-references to manufacturer documentation or credible industry sources.
  4. Business history. Founding year, parent company, and ownership changes documented through company publications or trade registration.
  5. Current product catalogue. Active product lines with specifications available from the brand or an authorised retailer.
  6. Retailer relationships. Authorised distributor or retailer network confirmed from both sides where applicable.

When research in all six areas is complete, the brand moves out of verification-pending status and the profile is indexed. If we reach the brand directly during the process, their input shapes the final content just as it does for any indexed profile.
