togiya is a Japanese scissor brand founded in 1965 by Tatsuya Miyata, who inherited traditional scissor making techniques from his father. The company was incorporated in 1999 as Togiya Japan Limited and is headquartered in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture. The brand name comes from the Japanese word for sharpening (togiya).

According to the brand, Miyata entered the steel materials business and recognized that many stylists were unsatisfied with the scissors available to them. This led him to develop a line of Japanese made professional scissors. togiya now reports selling to more than 20 countries worldwide.

Product Range

togiya produces cutting scissors, thinning scissors, and left-handed scissors. The brand covers blunt cut, slide cut, point cut, volume control, texture control, and combination cut and thin techniques. The company says it combines traditional Japanese manufacturing methods with ongoing research and development to adopt new trends in scissor design.

togiya operates a head office and factory in Inuyama City, along with a separate showroom facility in the same area.
