ScissorPedia Awards
ScissorPedia Awards
Annual editorial recognition of the brands and models shaping professional scissors.
The ScissorPedia Awards are an annual editorial review of professional hair, barber, and stylist scissors. The programme launched in 2025 — ten categories, ten distinct winning brands, every pick anchored to a specific named model in our catalogue and to a documented industry event in the news archive.
The 2025 edition is the first ScissorPedia Awards — an internal editorial selection by our desk, with no external judges, no brand nominations, and no products sent for review. Future editions are planned to introduce hands-on testing, a judging panel drawn from working stylists and barbers, and first-party photography and video of every winning model. The programme is a work in progress; corrections from brands and readers are welcomed at hello@jpscissors.com.
The same ten categories repeat each year — Brand of the Year, Best Heritage Maker, Best Cutting Scissor, Best Slide-Cut, Best Thinning, Best Value, Best Mid-Range Brand, Innovation in Steel, Best Ergonomic Design, Best Barbering Scissor — so that year-over-year movement carries meaning as the programme builds its history.
These are editorial picks by the ScissorPedia desk, not aggregated ratings, popularity votes, or paid placements. Brands cannot submit for inclusion. Every winner links to its brand profile, where readers can examine the steel, the catalogue, and the authorised retailers in full.
