About scissors street

It’ll work out!! If we fail, we can just start over again!! ・June 2023・ Ten years have passed since our founding. We started as a repair shop, created our original brand, and have come this far with a small but dedicated team. We sincerely thank all the customers and staff who have supported us until today. The story of scissors street … ・My journey to founding the company・ What led me to join a scissors manufacturer was meeting a highly skilled craftsman during my days as a hairstylist, which sparked my interest. I spent three years learning the basics of blade-making at an established scissors manufacturer, and was later entrusted with product finishing. Just when I wanted to add some variety to my work in my fifth year, there was an opening for a new department. Seeing this as a “growth opportunity,” I immediately applied and ended up working at a shop (polishing workshop) in Omotesando. That workplace wasn’t about making scissors through the same process, but rather a workshop where we repaired them while directly communicating with customers—a place that required skills to fix products from various manufacturers. The first half was filled with bitter memories, but seeing customers’ “joy and smiles” motivated me, and it became a special place where I could feel myself growing daily. I became convinced that all “truths” (answers) are born from dialogue with customers, and I began to give shape to what we should research together daily. Although I had no complaints about my work environment at the time, there were limits to what I could challenge myself with, and the “questions” that arose from daily customer interactions remained unanswered. So, to see unseen landscapes and to grow, I started my own business ten years ago. ・My mission・ Ten years ago, when I started as an enthusiastic new business owner, there were many moments when my “dreams and beliefs” were shattered time and again. Even when I thought I had prepared well and challenged myself, I painfully learned the difference and blessing of taking on challenges while being protected, especially the difficulty of gaining banks’ trust. The store was busy every day and seemed to be doing well, but those three years taught me the difficulty of managing while taking on “new challenges” in tight circumstances. Not being particularly skilled, I gradually became mentally exhausted and even considered starting over in the countryside surrounded by nature. During that time, I was saved by my family’s words, trustworthy staff, and so many people. “It’ll work out! If we fail, we can just start over again.” For someone like me who feared failure the most at the time, my wife’s words were salvation. From that point, I rallied and began to clarify my future role. I became convinced that my mission is “nurturing the next generation of young people” and “delivering the thoughts and value of Japanese blade craftsmen to the world.” I want to convey to the next generation the importance of having motivation and curiosity, the courage to challenge without fearing failure, and the value of persistence. I want to create the best company where future young people can thrive and live lives overflowing with genuine smiles.

Personal observation: Having worked with many scissor repair services over the years, I appreciate when companies understand the stylist's perspective. Scissors Street's founder actually worked behind the chair, so they get how crucial reliable tools are for our daily work. Their repair turnaround seems reasonable at 2 days to 6 weeks depending on the service needed. The fact they handle multiple brands is a huge plus - not every shop can properly service different manufacturers' scissors with the same expertise.

The company operates Monday through Friday (10:00-19:00) and offers multiple payment options including cash on delivery and credit card processing. They maintain a strict quality control policy with 8-day inspection periods for any issues, though customer returns are generally not accepted due to the specialized nature of their products.
