Each of the over 40 processes required for completion is carefully finished by hand. This “completely handmade” scissor-making, rare in modern times, is the core principle that OKAWA has maintained since its founding. The crystallization of meticulous handwork: the inside hollow ground The “inside hollow ground” is considered the life of scissors. A deeply and precisely formed hollow ground (*) is essential for powerful cutting performance and long-lasting sharpness. While machine processing advances, OKAWA continues to process the hollow ground through traditional handwork, performed by only a few artisans in Japan. This enables the unique cutting performance and precision that only handwork can achieve.
