NARUTO SCISSORS CONCEPT Since our founding in 1963, we’ve specialized exclusively in crafting professional hair scissors for over 60 years. Naruto Scissors are known for their “soft cutting sensation,” achieved through our craftsmen’s meticulous balancing of the two blades. Hair cut with our exceptional sharpness features clean cutting surfaces and is less prone to damage. “What makes a good pair of scissors?” When you ask a Naruto craftsman this question, they always reply, “It depends on the stylist.” Our craftsmen create scissors by hand, listening carefully, visualizing, and adapting to each person’s “hand shape” and “preferred blade edge.” The ideal angle for the front blade is 45 degrees, finished uniformly from base to tip while maintaining thickness. This blade thickness creates the signature smooth cutting experience. Each blade and component is hand-polished to a mirror finish because we want our scissors to last. The blade “curve,” created by hammer strikes, measures about 0.03mm—the width of a single hair. Both blades must be finished identically. There are no measuring instruments; craftsmen rely on their eyes and experience. The cutting edge is applied to the back blade using a whetstone. Neither too much nor too little grinding will do—the perfect balance must be judged by feel to achieve smooth opening and closing. Grinding creates a burr that must be removed with expert skill. One mistake can ruin the scissors. For thinning shears, the comb blade angles are gradually created using a special file—a particularly challenging process. Sword Blade Like a sword, it rises toward the center. The thickness in the middle delivers powerful cutting that won’t fail even with thick panels or coarse hair. Bamboo Leaf Blade More rounded than the willow blade, it’s suitable for dry slide cutting as it allows hair to escape while cutting. *Note: The willow blade is Naruto’s standard blade shape. Thinning Scissors Features Types and Characteristics of Thinning Scissors We offer four basic types—2-tooth, 3-tooth, 4-tooth, and 5-tooth—plus a variation series with randomly arranged teeth. Their distinctive feature is the stepped arrangement of small grooves at the comb tips. Hair is distributed among these grooves, reducing visible thinning lines during cutting. The comb’s edges are beveled on both sides for smooth hair release, allowing natural cutting that’s gentle on the hair without snagging. Available in both regular (S-type) and reverse (B-type) versions, the reverse type works smoothly for blending while trimming. Comb Blade Shapes Comb blades feature various characteristics based on their tip shapes.
